A Cozy Quilt

Burrrr-Willies, It's been very wintry this weekend. We've had rain, hail, and snow (real wet so that it doesn't stick) all within a half hour. It's the kind of weather you wish you had a fireplace to snuggle up next to with a good book.

Well . . . we don't have a fireplace (there are some RVs that DO have that luxury), so the next best thing for me is to snuggle up with cozy a quilt! That's exactly what I did, except I had to finish the quilt first. Here I am sewing to my heart's content putting the final touches on my "patriotic quilt." And by the time the Olympics were over (around midnight) last night it was done.

I often crawl into bed with freezing-cold feet . . . but not last night! I'm thinking that having a quilt on my lap is a great solution to that dilemma, because my feet were toasty-warm. I always have my slippers on in the evening but something about this quilt really did the trick. Go figure!

Life is good . . . especially with warm feet!

Update on the "Amish-Quilted" cross-stitched quilt: I've been told that it is now in the works and, hopefully, it will be done before the "gardening season" starts. The woman doing the quilting "concentrates on the garden with her husband, since they have no children."

What a joy it is to have you for my baby sister! You've always been young looking especially when you got to the big 4 - 0! But now at the 27th anniversary of your 29th birthday . . . "Baby Sistah, You've Still Got It" —The young at heart attitude on life, and the generous loving heart to go with it. Thanks for being such a great sister!

Grandsons—Ya Gotta Love'em!

While visiting the V family I took some time to just hang out with the boys. After raising two girls, it's been nothing but amazing (and a joy) to watch how boys are so different than girls. They move faster, they're louder, they come up with the strangest sounds as they play with their toys be it a train, car, plane, helicopter, transformer, G.I.Joe, everything has a unique sound that girls never use!

We showed J and C the "Penguin Game" on the computer and they caught on pretty fast. I just stood there with my camera snapping—when I could—trying to capture the fun they had. Just wanted to share them with you.

Life is good—especially sharing it with grandsons!

Happy Birthday "Grandkid 101"

We're using our Thousand Trails membership and enjoying a spot in Soledad Canyon. It's been pretty windy and is supposed to be 20-30 mph winds today so we've decided to head home tomorrow instead of today! The winds will die down to 5 mph by tomorrow according to the weather man.

We've had a great weekend with J and P and the kids celebrating KL's 11th birthday. She had a friend over and they had fun with their American Girl dolls most of the afternoon. J and P barbecued some awesome hamburgers with all the fixings. Presents were opened—quite a few horse-themed gifts were happily received but the icing on the cake was a bicycle from mom and dad!



Roasting marshmallows out in the backyard firepit and making gooey S'Mores followed by singing around the campfire topped the off the evening.




Then, of course, after the guest was taken home and the kids tucked in the "hangout room" watching a movie, J and P, and K and I played another set of Pegs and Jokers with the women winning this time 3 games over the guys 1— The night before (Friday) we played just two games and the guys won both.) So the weekend ended up with the Pegs and Jokers "tournament" being tied up!

When we were down at Christmas time JD asked me to make his GI Joe dolls some pants because somehow the original ones had been lost in the move. So I brought with me a dozen pair to sew on J's brand new machine. J enjoyed some time teaching KL how to sew her own doll patterns. They spent time laying out two outfits for KL's doll. J is making a shorts outfit using a pair of shorts that she doesn't wear anymore because they're too big, and KL decided to make a dress. KL concentrated really hard on getting the right pattern pieces she needed and I showed her how to lay out the pattern keeping an eye on the fabric grain. She did a great job. I learned how to sew when I was her age so I'm especially proud of her. I look forward to seeing the finished garments!






Sunday we went to church together, followed by "grazing" on appetizers most of the day watching the Super Bowl Game—Go Pittsburg! (My daddy was raised in Pittsburg!)

Life is Good—especially when spending a weekend with family.
