Sometimes pitching in with farm chores requires learning new skills.

The corral at Simply Country Farm had been a bit neglected by the previous owners. There are quite a few railings that need to be replaced. Ken had a grand time teaching JD and CD how to use a couple of his tools, and the job got done with no loss of fingers! The animals loved having company all day. And the weather was sunny, mid-sixties, and gorgeous.

We still need to order nearly twenty more boards to complete the job, but the skills learned today will allow the boys to participate with Ken as a team, and the job will go fast once the lumber is delivered.

JD learned from Papa the correct way to safely handle the chop saw.

CD was eager to help, too. He learned to drill a 3" screw through the replaced railings into the corral posts.

And Lacey was curious as to the new horse-training book KL was reading.

Hello Destiny!

After KL gave the pregnant goats extra sweet cobb as a treat this afternoon, Lacey spent a good five minutes licking KL's hands . . . she must love the molasses sweetened residue left on her hands.
